Friday Followup

Well, it was a fun weekend, but that is a lot like work.  

Anywho

Linux Mint 9 LXDE was released.  Great fun.  But (next) I am looking forward to Linux Mint 9 KDE 64 bit.  That will be cool  (Yeah, I will still install the LXDE ... DE but this LXDE edition is not 64bit.)

Ebooks are cool and my netbook's battery made it through the whole weekend with plenty of juice to spare.  Not that I used it much, but I was happy.  My Dearly Departed would not have made it by far.

No internet connection, but I had downloaded them before leaving home. #PlanningAhead

Nightmares were pretty ugly, but I blame them largely on the lack of shower facilities.  Dad was there to stifle my waking screams, but I was among people who know me, mostly, in that regard.

Then I made a cake yesterday.  Want some?

Going.... Camping

Yes, it is Friday again, and again I have nothing meaningful to contribute to the interwebz.

But,

I was not feeling so hot most of this week, but I am getting into the swing of things again.  We are doing the camping thing this weekend.  It is fun to get out in the wildlife.  There are plenty of people that would think this was rather ... out of character for me be it has been something that Dad and I have done together for so long that it would feel weird to not get out there from time to time.

And this means that I get to ride in a helicopter with is heck-a-fun/scary-cool.

AND, starting Monday I will have access to the Deviant Art content that I have been block from for so long now.  =^_^=  Even my own short story, I have to click the warning button on for it to show me.

So, there it is.  Another week.

I took a closer look at PERL because, wile I knew it was out there, I did not really understand what it is all about.  I mean, I love PHP.  I have a good handle on ksh... so, PERL still has a place in the world in between the two.  WAY fast, flexible and awesome with RE.

I had started a while back to look into RUBY.  I never really got sold on it, but I think I never gave it a fair enough shake.  I may focus on RUBY next week.

Saturday is almost Friday

Last weekend was okay.

Now I know where "The cake is a lie" comes from.  How come no one ever told me about this before? Maybe because I am not a "gamer" but is that really an excuse?  I mean, it is a puzzle game.  And it is so funny.  I was caught smiling at one point.  What they don't know is that I almost laughed.

But I never thought I'd ever have to really explain my youtube phobia.  

So, the guys were playing Portal and when it got to the song at the end, I was like oh, hey, I really like this song.

They were like, "Yeah? You want it?"  And I was like, "sure, where can I get it?"  And they were all, "Here" and hit google, and the next thing I knew, it was playing on youtube.  I left the room.  It was that or freak out, you know?  So there was a lot of confusion. They stopped it and got it off the screen.  I came back into the room all trembling and stuff.

It really messes me up, you know?  I have to be so careful about what links I click on and stuff.

Friday is late...

Those of you who have been playing along may know that I go pretty much everywhere with my laptop, in my backpack, which doubles as a purse.  My life (outside of fencing) is in my backpack.

Tragedy of tragedies.

I took a spill on my bicycle yesterday.  I went bum over teakettle and my faithful, old, lovable laptop went the way of a pack of restaurant soda crackers.

I cried all the way to the ER for the loss of my dearest, truest friend electric.

My next installment of the J&J Series on DeviantArt is on googledocs, so I didn't loose that, but getting to the web is a pain from the file server.  I is a file server and not set up for graphics. (There are times and places where text-based browsers are awesome.  This is not one.)

I am still hoping I can recover the HDD, of for nothing other than easing the sense of loss.

I am working on getting something to fill the gap in my life.

Oh, and my helmet broke and my front wheel is borked.

Well, what can I say...
Where have been things that happened this past week, but they were weird and I am not going to blog about them -
 - Other, that is, than to say it has been a weird week.

I got to a point this morning after not being able to sleep, not feeling good, etc that I will not waste blogspace or keystrokes talking about, where I was like, "Oh boy! It's Friday! Time to blog again!"
That was followed quickly by the stark realization that I have no idea what to blog about.  Hmm... imagine that.

So:
The trailer for "The Girl Who Played With Fire" was released.  Um... what is the word... Oh yeah.  "w00t"

Okay... that was not the English/internat'l trailer that was just released, but apparently the only link back to it I am finding right now is on youtube, to which I am insanely allergic, so you have to read the Swedish. For some of you that will be fine, I know.


Also, there has been a lot of buzz around the literary circles for the series (Thank you @randomhouse) which is cool because it is much with the awesome.

Then, also, a friend of mine turned me on to an anime series Bamboo Blade.  It is cute and funny, but it has amusing character development.  It centres around the sport of kendo.  Being a fencer, I find this cool.  Reminds me of clubs I have known, but I will leave it there.

Let's see... what else.

Oh - I wrote a (bash) script to... automatically tweet whatever I have playing in xmms2.  But it is a little annoying... I think I like to be more selective about what I share - even if it may not seem like it.  :rollseyes:

Friday comes early

It is kinda like this:

I gave up (for the moment) waiting on Linux Mint 9 LXDE to be released.  I installed the regular (gnome) edition and then installed LXDE.  Liking it nicely.

I updated my DA yesterday.  Not my journal, no, but I may do that today.  My gallery. I am kinda starting / have started a new fiction thread for myself under the pretext that I will be adding "episodes" to a series.  So, they are like... short stories (or, will be, rather) but related, but not as related as book chapters.  So, I uploaded the "introduction."

Whatever.

But.
Um.
There was something else, but I forgot.  I will Try and remember. 
On another note: Congrats Chicago, but I was rooting for Phili.
